What this unit covers

In Term 2, Year 3 Health in the WA Curriculum centres on the unit “Staying Safe in Our Community”.

Students develop strategies for seeking help, understanding permission and consent, and making healthy choices that promote safety and wellbeing in their daily lives.

Lesson sequence (8 lessons)

The unit breaks down into the following lesson-by-lesson sequence — each title below is a teachable lesson, in order:

1. Identifying trusted adults who can help us stay safe
2. Learning when and how to ask for help in different situations
3. Understanding what permission means and when we need to ask
4. Practising how to give, ask for and say no to permission
5. Exploring consent for sharing photos and personal information
6. Taking action when someone does something hurtful or disrespectful
7. Making healthy food choices to keep our bodies safe and strong
8. Building a safe and healthy classroom community together
